Special Projects:
To state the obvious, business is dynamic - stuff happens and sometimes
on very short notice.
Your company grows and new opportunities present themselves, you might
be faced with new regulatory requirements, someone
unexpectedly leaves the company, a valued client is willing
to do more business if you could better interface to their IT system - the
list goes on. The need in many cases is short term and hiring a
full time employee may not be the solution. You'd also like to have someone
sitting on the bench, with knowledge of your company ready to step in when the
need arises. That's the "on call" part of OnCALL Micro.
Our goal is to be as flexible as possible in working with our clients,
constantly
learning about their business and being ready to step in when the need is
there.
Some of the ways we can be of help:
Process Evaluation: We can take a look at
the big picture of how information flows within your organization
and recommend ways to improve efficiency, eliminate redundancy,
minimize errors, reduce costs and improve the value and timliness of
that information. In many cases you may already have the
necessary tools onsite but just need an assist in getting the most
from them. We can also help you review other options, work
with vendors and basically be a sounding board in finding the
improvements you want to make in your operations.
Software Inventory: Over time there are
environments where a patchwork of custom software or custom
processes have been developed that may become increasingly more
difficult to manage, upgrade and are no longer keeping up to the
demands of your staff and customers. There are also those
instances where applications may have been developed where the
original developers are no longer available and the development
tools themselves may have fallen out of support. Reviewing
what applications you currently use and take a fresh look at how
you use them can provide savings in streamling your operations,
opening up the possibility of moving away from custom solutions to
off the shelf products and avoiding hurried upgrades to your
existing applications.
IT Bridge: This could be a scenario where a
company has increasing IT needs but does not yet want to commit to
hiring a full-time IT staffer. We can set up a fixed schedule
to be onsite and handle and co-ordinate the various computer
related requests, providing research assistance, work with vendors,
participate in planning meetings and help build the framework for a
more formal IT department. If the time comes when a full-time
staff person is needed we can certainly assist in the selection
process - and provide support until that person settles in.
With the understanding we have of your company's operations we can
also provide ongoing assistance as needed, handling overflow
projects, advice and step in during vacations.
Standards: This would apply more towards
environments where a lot of custom development is underway. We
can review the current coding environment and suggest improvements
to managing the lifecycle of code development from coding standards,
code reuse, managing change requests, versioning, testing and
deployment. It's just another way to bring another set of eyes
into the picture to find better ways to build and maintain software
applications.
Work for your customers: We can help you
build a tighter working relationship with your customers by working
directly with them. We can help find the common ground between
disparate computing systems so that information can be more easily
passed between you and your clients - improving efficiencies for
both parties.
Resellers: In the past we've worked with
companies, providing additional revenue streams, building unique
software applications that enhanced the products they were in turn
selling - and continued to follow-up with those companies in
providing additional added-value custom solutions to those
customers. It allowed those resellers to stand out from their
competitors by providing a more unique all-around solution to their
customers.
The bottom
line is to be as helpful as possible and to be a resource that you can count
on as your IT needs change.
